Malini Vijay Desai Scholarship

Malini Vijay Desai Scholarship has been instituted in the year 2024 by Shri Nainan Desai and Smt Devyani Nainan Desai, and is open to all UG and Master students. The scholarship amount is Rs. 1 lakh per student per year and is awarded to one UG/Master student every year in order to support internships (international or domestic), special projects and opportunities, financial needs, etc.. UG/Master students with a minimum CPI of 6.5 are eligible and must have enrolled /taken at least one Sanskrit course at IITGN.

Shri Nainan Vijay Desai, BTech (IITMadras '78), MSME, MBA, and Smt Devyani Nainan Desai, MD, a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, love to support causes related to preservation and promotion of the Bharatiya heritage. They believe that it is necessary to take active steps to protect, promote, preserve and research such heritage.Malini Vijay Desai scholarship has been instituted by them in honor of their mother, Malini Vijay Desai, MA, B.Ed., (1929-2018) who was very literate in Gujarati, Hindi, Sanskrit, and English languages. As an education officer in the Bombay Municipal Corporation's Education department, she was very serious about imparting good education to the children of public and municipal schools, and worked tirelessly for that goal. This endowed scholarship is being established to commemorate her love for her heritage, her knowledge of Sanskrit language, and related studies. The scholarship is open to all UG and master students.The scholarship amount is Rs. 1 lakh per student per year, would support the student for their financial needs, funding internships (international or domestic), or special projects and opportunities, etc., and is awarded to one student every year who is enrolled or has previously taken at least one Sanskrit course at IIT Gandhinagar. The recipient students are encouraged to continue to take higher level courses in Sanskrit.
