IITGN students and faculty in any field who undertake impactful work on Covid-19 over the next three months that leads to a research publication are eligible for awards of Rs 2 lakhs each.

Covid-19 Research Awards

The Covid-19 pandemic has created an unprecedented crisis that has disrupted the life and fabric of societies all over the globe. With the aim of encouraging urgent research on the disease and its societal impact, the KPCSD is establishing the Covid-19 Research Awards for research by IITGN faculty and students on any aspect of the pandemic. The awards are designed to encourage research that advances understanding of the pandemic and its psychological, educational, economic and societal impact. Research that relates to perishable data that may become unavailable later and social science studies or surveys that involve acquisition of concurrent information or that have the potential to advance impactful solutions in the midst of the pandemic are especially encouraged. The awards are not limited to such research, however. They are open to researchers in all fields on any aspect of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The terms of the award are as follows:

⦿ Research undertaken by IITGN students and faculty on all aspects of Covid-19 during the next three months that leads to research publication in a reputed journal will receive Rs 2 lakhs award for their professional development account.
⦿ The award is open to all fields and disciplines and interdisciplinary projects, as well as research relating to perishable data and studies or surveys that involve acquisition of information or that have the potential to advance impactful solutions during the pandemic, are especially encouraged.
⦿ The award will be given to each team of faculty/students that completes at least the first draft of a publication by June 30, which has been submitted and already or is subsequently accepted for publication by a reputed journal. Policy documents or other publications with demonstrably high impact can be considered. There is no limit to the number of awards. The distribution of the award among the team members will be determined solely by the team
⦿ Teams may have non-IITGN members, but an IITGN student or faculty must be first author of the publication and the prize money may not be shared with non-IITGN members.
⦿ A KPCSD established committee will review all submissions to confirm that the research work and draft manuscript was completed by the deadline and evaluate the reputation of the journal in which it is accepted. In exceptional cases, the committee may consider contributions to policy documents or other publications with demonstrably high impact.
⦿ KPCSD will consider small grants for research groups to acquire data, tools, conduct surveys, etc. for their research. Costs for equipment, personnel, or travel will not be considered. For consideration for these grants, please submit a brief proposal and budget to csd@iitgn.ac.in
