IIT Gandhinagar (IITGN) began its journey as one of the younger Indian Institutes of Technology in August 2008. The Institute currently offers following academic programmes:
B.Tech : Chemical, Electrical and Mechanical
M.Tech : Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Material Science & Engineering and Mechanical
D.IIT : Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Material Science & Engineering and Mechanical
PhD : Engineering, Humanities & Social Sciences and Sciences
The courses dwell on developing the ability for physical and analytical modeling, design and development which also involves rigorous practical training. While the students can gain more in-depth knowledge in their discipline through Honors, they also get an opportunity to broaden their perspectives through Minors in other fields (Computer Science, Management, etc.). The students are encouraged for internships during the summer break to gain experience at various universities and industries in India and abroad. The objective is to prepare the students not just for their first job, but their last job as well.
