ABOUT US


REFECO’15 is an annual Researcher’s Ferret Confabulation. This event aims at providing the platform for conglomeration of ideas predominantly based on the ongoing research motivation of IIT Gandhinagar. It is an initiative by PhD Scholars of IIT Gandhinagar which endeavors to explore the interdisciplinary nature of the existing research in association with sharing ideas and challenges pertinent in various spheres of science and technology impacting our own society and culture at large. We invite you to be a part of the event and evolve as an effective research communicator and a problem solver. It provides an interface to be abreast of peers in various fields and to be at par in the technological ascent.
Call for papers : General Information

REFECO’15 invites scholastic contributions in the form of abstracts for oral and poster presentations. The abstract within the scope of this event are invited within the word limit of 500 words. It can be a description of completed research work, ongoing work or speculative work on any innovative idea.
Paper Submission begins on 12th March, 2015.

Note :Kindly go through the Author’s Instructions and Editorial Policies before submitting the abstract.

Guidelines for submitting the abstract –
  1. Click onto the registration tab and sign up for participating in REFECO’15.
  2. Create a new entry in the form using the link – http://www.iitgn.ac.in/refeco/#registration
  3. Kindly fill in all the details. (Title of the abstract, Author’s names, Discipline, Institute, Area of Research).
  4. Click Submit and make a note of the Paper Id number.
  5. The author(s) details and Author’s affiliation must be replaced by the Paper Id number obtained at step 4. (We would accept blind manuscripts only keeping in mind the integrity policy)
  6. After the needful changes are made, kindly upload the abstract in the tab below.

Call for papers : Eligibility

IIT Gandhinagar Applicants –

Registered PhD Scholars, master’s students, research fellows and final year B.Tech’s affiliated to IIT Gandhinagar are open to submit the abstracts.

Other IIT Applicants-

Final year B.Tech students with CGPA above 6.0 are invited to submit their abstracts. Limited Fellowships will be provided for travel and accommodation of the selected applicants.

NIT Applicants and other national level Institute applicants-

Top three students of the discipline from final year B.Tech program are eligible to send in their abstracts for REFECO. Limited Fellowships will be provided for travel and accommodation of the selected applicants.

Applicants under the category of TEQIP Initiative-

Faculty members, Masters Students and final year students under B.Tech program are invited to submit their abstracts. The list of colleges that fall under the category of TEQIP initiative is available Here.

Call for papers : Author's Instructions

Manuscript preparation for Blind Submission
REFECO accepts blind abstract submissions. The author(s) must ensure that their names or associated identities do not appear anywhere. The author affiliations are to be replaced with the Paper ID number generated after the online registration process in order to hide the identity of author(s) from the reviewers and ensure integrity during the evaluation.

How to obtain Paper ID for Blind Submission?
The Paper ID must be included in the manuscript before uploading it. To acquire the Paper ID number the authors must register with valid and complete details under the registration section. On clicking submit button on the same page the paper ID number will be displayed immediately. Note that authors need not upload the abstract in order to acquire the Paper ID. The ID number must be entered in the manuscript (in replacement of the author details), which can then be uploaded.

Abstract limits
The abstract length must be within 500 words. The upload limit for submission in the event is restricted to 1 MB. Allowable file type for submission is strictly in PDF format. Please find the sample abstract format below.

Authors are also required to abide by the non-duplicity norm in order to ensure the integrity of the institution.

Call for papers : Editorial Policy

Author No-Show Policy
REFECO’15 enforces a "no show" policy. Any accepted abstract included for poster/oral presentation is expected to have at least one author attending/presenting the work in the event. Absence or “No show” will lead to disqualification of the opportunity.

Double blind review
Reviewing of the abstracts for the event is double blinded, in which neither the identity of the author(s) will be informed to the reviewer nor will the reviewer’s identity be disclosed to the author(s) under any circumstance. Avoid providing links to websites that identify the author(s). Violation of any of these guidelines will lead to rejection of the abstract.

Integrity of Work
Title of the submission, abstract, author name(s) and number of authors corresponding to the allotted Paper ID number will be retained as it is with the committee, there will be no scope for any form of changes. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited and violation of this policy will lead to immediate disqualification.

Speakers:

Anil K Gupta , Professor (IIMA), Executive Vice Chair (National Innovation Foundation), B.Sc (Hons, Agriculture), M.Sc.(Genetics), PhD
He is a professor in the Centre for Management in agriculture at IIM Ahmedabad. He works towards ensuring recognition, respect and reward for grassroot inventors and innovators at a local, national and global level and for protection of their Intellectual property rights. He is the executive Vice-Chair of National Innovation Foundation and founder of Honey Bee network. He is also the co-ordinator of SRISTI (Society for Research and Initiative for Sustainable Technologies and Institutions). He was also a speaker at TED India in November, 2009.


Sudeendra Koushik , Innovation & Technology Management Professional, Think Tanks, BE,MBA, PG-IIMK, PhD (Innovation)
He is currently an innovation professional with 21 years of international experience in Product innovation and development with 13 pending patents and 1 granted patent. He is the Vice Chairperson of IEEE- Bangalore and Chairperson of IEEE Consumer Electronics Bangalore chapter. He has worked with BPL, Philips, NXP semiconductors and Trident Microsystems.


Dr. Tara Nair , Professor (GIDR), MPhil (Economics), PhD (Applied Economics)
She is currently working as a Professor at Gujarat Institute of Development Research. She has served as Head (Research), Friends of Women’s World Banking and as an associate professor, Institute of Rural Management, Anand. Her interest has been towards research pertaining to issues in policy and institutional development in the areas of pro-poor financial services, rural innovation, women and development, financial behavior or of tribal households. She has undertaken primary research across Indian states and countries like Bangladesh and Myanmar, and consulted many national and international programmes/organizations including International Labour Organisation, CHF International, International Fund for Agricultural Development, Aga Khan Rural Support Programme, HIVOS, CORDAID and Grameen Foundation.


Rajagopalan Srinivasan , Professor (Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT-GN), B.Tech (IIT Madras), PhD (Purdue Universiy)
He is currently working as a professor in Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar. His research interests include safe and environmentally benign process design and operations, supply chain management and enterprise optimization and computational Systems Biology. He has worked as a research associate with Honeywell Technology Center, Minneapolis, as a visiting associate professor in IIT Bombay, Imperial College, London and National University Singapore.

About Gandhinagar-

Gandhinagar is a rustic well planned city (2nd most well planned city after Chandigarh) located on the west bank of Sabarmati which is approximately 464 Km away from the financial capital of India, Mumbai and about 15 Kms North of the capital city of Gujarat, Ahmedabad. It is the birth place of our honorable father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi. It is one of the commercial and administrative centers of Gujarat. Popular places of interest for tourists are Akshardham, Adalaj Step Well, Sabarmati Gandhi Ashram, Gujarat Science City, Kankaria Lake, Sabarmati River front, Craftmen’s Village, Sarita Udyan and Ahmedabad main city.

How to reach us-

The city is well connected via air, trains and road from all major cities of India. It is equipped with bus (BRTS facility) and cab facility within the city. Taxi ride from the airport approximately costs about Rs. 250/-. In order to reach from Ahmedabad Railway station to Chandkheda (IIT Gandhinagar) ,auto rickshaw (common mode of travel across the city) charges about Rs. 180/-.

Updates of weather conditions of the place-

Gandhinagar has a dry climate except from the month of June to September which is the monsoon months. March to June of the year are hot summer days with an average temperature of 35°C and an average temperature of 10°C to 20°C during winters.
