Where is IIT Gandhinagar located? |

Currently the Institute is functioning from the premises of Vishwakarma Government Engineering College, Visat-Gandhinagar Highway, Chandkheda, Ahmedabad – 382424, Gujarat. |

Where is this temporary campus located? |
| |
The Vishwakarma Government Engineering College is located in Chandkheda on Visat-Gandhinagar Highway, approximately 10 km from Ahmedabad Airport and 14 km from Ahmedabad Railway Station. You may like to have a look at the map and look around our campus with Wikimapia.

How does one reach Chandkheda from Ahmedabad airport or railway station? |

A taxi ride would cost about Rs 250/- from the airport. The most common transportation is an auto rickshaw. Typical fare from Ahmedabad railway station to Chandkheda by auto rickshaw is Rs. 70 to Rs. 80. |

How far are facilities like a post office and banks from the institute? |
| |
A post office is located within walking distance from the institute. There are several banks within half a kilometer radius from the college. The IIT Gandhinagar branch of State Bank of India is also operational now and is just across the street from the Institute. |

Will there be internet facility? What about computer terminals? |
| |
Yes, adequate internet facilities are available. There are numerous terminals and a computer laboratory operating within the premises. Students' hostel also has been equipped with WiFi internet facility. |

What is the climate like in Gandhinagar? |
| |
Gandhinagar has generally a dry climate apart from the monsoon months of June to September. March to June are hot summer days with average maximum temperature of about 36℃ while the months of November to February are winter with temperature ranging between 15℃ to 30℃, which can occasionally drop to 5℃. |

In what way is IIT Bombay associated with IIT Gandhinagar? |

Each of the new IITs that are being established is to be mentored by an existing IIT. IIT Gandhinagar is being mentored by IIT Bombay. |

Do we have faculty to teach? |
| |
Yes, IIT Gandhinagar has already recruited some outstanding faculty members. These include both senior academicians and young PhDs. |

What about laboratories? |
| |
The first and second year laboratories are in place. Teaching laboratories for the third year are currently being set up. |

Will there be a library? |
| |
Yes, books that are required as texts and references are available in the library. |

What about hostel facilities? |
| |
Fully furnished accommodation facilities for all the students are available in the building complex across the street from the Institute. |

Is there accommodation for girl students? |
| |
Yes. Accommodation for girl students is also available. |

What is the arrangement for food? |
| |
Food services has been outsourced to a top caterer. A highly qualified nutritionist ensures that the students are provided with healthy food. |

What will be the living expenditure? |
| |
The expenditure pattern is similar to that of other big cities. Apart from the Institute fees which are payable every semester, the anticipated expense per month should be about Rs 3000 including messing charges. |

Are there recreational facilities? |
| |
A highly qaulified physical educaton instructor is on the staff to train students. Grounds are available for football, cricket, volleyball and basketball. Facilities for indoor games such as badminton and table-tennis have also been made available. A modern multi-purpose gym is available alongwith gym instructors. |

What about medical facilities? |
| |
Primary medical facilities through OPD are provided and a (lady) doctor is available round-the-clock for any medical needs of our students. Health insurance to all students for their medical needs is being provided through Bajaj Allianz. The Institute has also made suitable arrangements with top hospitals in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar for cases requiring hospitalisation. |
