Faculty Recruitment in Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics) |
Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar invites outstanding applications for faculty positions in Biology, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics at the Institute at all levels (Assistant, Associate, and Professor). The Institute currently offers a PhD programme in Sciences and, with sufficient number of faculty, aspires to start Masters and Bachelors programmes in the Sciences.
The Institute offers the following to colleagues in the Sciences:
1. Chairs and Fellowships to outstanding candidates at all levels. In general, the average emoluments at IITGN will be higher than elsewhere in the country.
2. Liberal moving expenses to all faculty joining the Institute.
3. The teaching load of a faculty member in the Sciences will not normally be more than 1 course per semester.
4. The Institute will be providing a Professional Development Fund of Rs. 1 Lakh per year (carried forward for up to 3 years) to all faculty members for their professional growth. This may be used for purchasing books/laptop, attending conferences or collaborative visits in India or abroad, etc. Additionally, a sum of Rs 50,000/- per year can be provided for participation in international conferences from the donation funds.
5. Liberal start-up funds to new faculty to get their research efforts started, and Institute will provide any support needed to apply to funding agencies for grants.
6. Full support to the faculty to develop collaborations with research institutes in Ahmedabad or outside.
7. If there is only one faculty member in an area, the Institute will endeavour to hire at least one more faculty member in the same area for synergy of research efforts.
8. Liberal funding and authorization for faculty in developing library resources in the subject area.
9. The Institute will provide funds to support two Post Doctoral Fellows (for three years each) for a new faculty member in the Sciences during the first four years at the Institute.
IITGN is a family oriented Institute and will provide all reasonable assistance in initial settlement of a faculty colleague, such as housing, jobs for spouses, schools, and crèches for children etc. Fully furnished guest house accommodation is provided for faculty and family upon joining the Institute for the first two weeks. The Institute’s endeavors has been that our faculty must receive a higher level of support and encouragement for research than any other in the country.
