The discipline of Mechanical Engineering at IITGN was started in 2008 with undergraduate and Ph.D. programs which was expanded in 2012 to include M.Tech. program in Mechanical Engineering. The discipline currently hosts research activities which can be broadly classified into:
Computational solid and structural mechanics
The research facilities, which are continously being upgraded, currently include:
High-performance computing lab with both GPU and CPU-based clusters
Energy systems lab with state-of-the-art safety systems
Advanced manufacturing lab with CNCs
Computer-aided milling machine
Rapid prototyping machine
Low-speed wind tunnel
Basic mechanics lab
Bench-top Control system experiments
Several stand-alone workstations
Software licences including but not limited to MATLAB and Simulink, Labview, Fluent, Ansys, ADAMS Car, QUARC, etc.
In order to meet current and future research and teaching requirements, the discipline of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Gandhinagar seeks outstanding applicants from all areas of Mechanical Engineering to fill multiple positions at all levels.
