Faculty Recruitment in Engineering |
Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar invites outstanding applications for faculty positions in all branches of Engineering (Biosciences & Bioengineering, Chemical, Civil, Computer Science, Electrical, Material Science and Metallurgy, and Mechanical) at various levels (Assistant, Associate, and Professor). The Institute currently has a B.Tech. program in Chemical, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering; a M.Tech. program in Chemical and Civil Engineering; and a PhD program all other Engineering disciplines. M.Tech. programs in other disciplines will start as soon as sufficient number of faculty are available in a discipline.
The Institute offers the following to colleagues in Engineering:
1. Chairs and Fellowships to outstanding candidates at all levels. In general, the average emoluments at IITGN will be higher than elsewhere in the country.
2. Liberal moving expenses to all faculty joining the Institute.
3. The teaching load of a faculty member in the Engineering will not normally be more than 3 courses per academic year. Initially, all efforts will be made to limit teaching to one course a semester for new faculty.
4. The Institute will be providing a Professional Development Fund of Rs. 1 Lakh per year (carried forward for up to 3 years) to all faculty members for their professional growth. This may be used for purchasing books/laptop, attending conferences or collaborative visits in India or abroad, etc. Additionally, a sum of Rs 50,000/- can be provided for participation in international conferences from the donation funds.
5. Liberal start-up funds to new faculty to get their research efforts started, and will provide any support needed to apply to funding agencies for grants.
6. Full support to the faculty to develop collaborations with research institutes in Ahmedabad or outside.
7. Liberal support and authorization to faculty to develop library resources in their subject area.
8. If there is only one faculty member in an area, the Institute will endeavour to hire at least one more faculty member in the same area for synergy of research efforts.
IITGN is a family oriented Institute and will provide all reasonable assistance in initial settlement of a faculty colleague, such as housing, jobs for spouses, schools, and crèches for children etc. Fully furnished guest house accommodation is provided for faculty and family upon joining the Institute for the first two weeks. The Institute’s endeavor has been that our faculty must receive a higher level of support and encouragement for research than any other in the country.
