The IITGN Day Care Centre was started as a community initiative in March 2014 to provide a safe, secure and nurturing environment to the children from IITGN families, while their parents are at work. In a growing institute like IITGN that has a considerable amount of community members with young families, the Day Care Centre provides quality child care services within the campus. Parents can enjoy higher flexibility and productivity at work knowing that their children are at close proximity and are well-monitored. The centre currently caters to children between the ages of 6 months to 6 years. It operates from Monday to Friday from 9am to 6pm. The centre has adopted an open admission policy with a fee structure that is accessible to all sections of the IITGN community.
The centre is actively engaged in fun and learning activities such as drawing, clay modeling, dancing, listening to rhymes, indoor games, and reading sessions being conducted regularly. The day care also intermittently organizes structured developmental sessions like music and movement program, and story-telling sessions for infants, toddlers and pre-schoolers, through volunteer-driven initiatives from within the IITGN community. The daycare has also facilitated interaction between parents and various coaches for activities such as football, chess and so on, for children 6 years and older. The daycare organized a two-week long summer camp in April 2015 with many exciting activities such as art, craft, reading, singing, dancing, yoga, food decoration, games etc. conducted to unmask creativity, and increase concentration, awareness and social skills. The daycare celebrated its one year anniversary on the last day of the summer camp wherein the artwork done by the children was displayed, and parents were presented with cupcakes decorated by their children and made to dance to fun songs along with their kids.
The day care room is a spacious 750 sq feet area that is divided into separate sections for recreational/educational activities and sleeping/quiet-time. A children's bathroom is located within close proximity to the room. The centre has a recreational section with a generous collection of children's books and toys, two small play areas - one for toddlers and other for older kids, a private nursing area for babies, a kitchenette equipped with a microwave and a fridge, and a separate partitioned sleep area. The Day Care has also taken several measures to ensure safety and security, including an advanced fire-safety and alarm system, CCTV monitoring system, fire safety training for staff, first aid kit and access to a doctor, safety door, high hygiene standards, adequate child proofing, among others.
The day care team consist of a supervisor and helpers who oversee day to day operations
