Continuing Education Programme |

With the vibrant Gujarat getting ready for many new industries, IIT Gandhinagar has initiated Continuing Education Programme (CEP) for
pracising engineers from industries from September 2009. The first of such programmes, titled Low Cost High-tech Automation (LCHA) ,
will be conducted during 14 to 16th September, 2009 at the current IITGn campus located at Vishwakarma Government Engineering College. Employees
from reputed companies (TATA Motors, BAJAJ Auto, Mahindra, Larsen & Toubro to name a few) will be participating in the programme. After creating the
basic awareness, the course will deal with various technologies, their comparison & steps involved. Many real-life problems will be discussed to
emphasise upon applications. SM Technocrats Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai will provide logistic support.

About the Programme
|
With signs of economic recovery, the manufacturing industries can expect better times ahead. The important
basic requirements for domestic as well as export markets will be:
- Providing consistently high quality,
- Quick delivery,
- Effective cost management,
- Flexibility to meet fluctuating demand.
LCHA is a very effective approach to prepare the working professionals to meet the above listed requirements because of following advantages:
- minimal additions to existing equipment, infrastructure etc.,
- pro-active development of automation techniques involving in-house staff,
- easier maintenance of the equipments because of trained internal staff and team,
- flexibility of gradual up-gradation is possible to suit project specific requirements,
- skill set of the staff increases,
- it is valid irrespective of type and size of organisation,
- use of electronic control with mechatronic approach adds to the performance with relatively lesser cost.

About the Faculty

Prof.N.Ramakrishnan, a Professor in Mechanical Engineering with more than thirty years of experience in this area,
along with his team (from IIT Bombay & industries) will conduct the course. They have been involved in implementing them in various
industries.
